Please sign this petition and help save Short Heath Playing Fields and the proposed selling of it for development and stop it`s years of neglect by the council.

The neglect of this park has been nothing more than a disgrace and now Birmingham Education Department and Birmingham Council want to sell the land for development and lose an invaluable place for our community, families, children and wild life. This park needs the grass cut, bins and dog waste bins installed in the park and football, cricket and rounders pitches marked out so children can play again and not to be sold off for development. A lot of people including myself use this park to walk our dogs, take our children, grandchildren there to play.

This little bit of green park land will be lost to development instead of giving children somewhere to play and helping the city to have cleaner air thanks to the trees and plants in it.

Children are losing play spaces constantly in inner city areas which leaves children nowhere to go is not good. We know losing spaces like this small park leads to children finding other ways to entertain themselves playing in the streets which is unsafe and upsets older residents that live in the area. We have all seen increases in anti-social behaviour, child obesity and crime in this and other cities where children have nowhere to go. We need to keep land like this in our community for children and families, they need to be spaces like this that can use. These parks are part of Birmingham and our heritage to pass on to the young and future generations not lose them forever.
