After visiting the Birdland Park and Garden in Bourton-On-The-Water (Cotswolds) I was absolutely appalled with the size of the penguin enclosure, the quality of the water which wasn’t even a metre deep and how low the walls were for visitors to view the penguins - I think anyone could reach over and touch them and this is dangerous. Penguins spend 75% of their time in the wild swimming and there isn’t enough space for them to swim at all. 

After making a post on TikTok which went viral, I now understand that many people have felt concerned about the penguins wellbeing when visiting this park - with many people sharing that they’ve seen penguins staring at walls and standing still for long periods of time. Many people were in agreement that the penguin enclosure is not up to scratch.

I am hoping that by making this petition, the penguin enclosure will be improved or the penguins will be taken to another animal reserve where they’ll be treated better. I also hope that the government and/or RSPCA will start being stricter on enclosure size and cleanliness/maintenance. Enclosures this small is animal cruelty. I am willing to stand up and fight against small animal enclosures because it is wrong.
