Binghamton NEEDS a better skatepark!

Binghamton NEEDS a better skatepark!

The Issue

It is time for the city of Binghamton to step up and completely renovate the Cheri Lindsey Memorial Skatepark. Currently, our local park is in a severely neglected and outdated state; between the cracked concrete, awkward obstacle layouts, and notoriously bumpy, unskatable coping, it has become a frustrating and often unsafe environment for local riders. This lack of maintenance is happening at the worst possible time. Skateboarding is experiencing a massive global resurgence, heavily fueled by mainstream media and the immense hype surrounding the upcoming video game Skate 4. This game has single-handedly thrust skate culture back into the spotlight, inspiring a whole new generation of youth who want to experience the culture for themselves.

We need a park that matches that energy. Investing in a top-tier concrete park gives people a compelling reason to put down the controllers, get off their phones, and spend hours outside getting fresh air, staying active, and building real-world social skills. A skatepark isn't just concrete—it is a community hub. By signing this petition, you are telling city leaders that Binghamton deserves a modern, safe, and vibrant outdoor space that properly honors Cheri Lindsey’s memory and supports our local youth. Please sign today, share with your friends, and help us build a park we can actually be proud of!
