I'm sure you remember watching Bill Nye The Science Guy as a kid, or maybe as an adult. We learned about everything form the environment, to rocks, to planets, to dinosaurs, and even had really cool ways to perform our own experiments and be our own scientists. Bill Nye The Science Guy created a whole new generation of scientists and curious people, because it was educational and fun. 

Lately, as you may have noticed, channels like the Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, History Channel, and similar channels have strayed from being the educational entertainment we have become to love. They have turned into channels of odd reality tv shows and are hardly educational anymore, let alone entertaining. 

What I am proposing is to bring back the Bill Nye The Science Guy tv show, for this new generation out there experience new technology and scientific discoveries. So television can be educational again. However, it should also include aspects of the Social Sciences, such as Sociology, Anthropology, and History. So it encompasses all of the sciences. So kids are not only learning about dinosaurs and planets, but also society, our past, different cultures, and languages. We are living in a much more connected and diverse world, and we need to make sure kids are suited for this new world. 

I was inspired with the success of the Reading Rainbow crowd fund and saw a bunch of people from my generation jump for joy over a new generation being introduced to Reading Rainbow (and watching reruns on Netflix) and I hope that a new era of Bill Nye will also bring about positive change.
