When a doe is struck by an arrow, it triggers a flee response.  A big part of bow hunting is following the blood trail and finding the doe before she succumbs to pain, blood loss, shock, and other secondary complications which may take hours or even days.  The wounding rate for bow hunting is 40-60%.

This is a Pilot Program.  If it isn't stopped there will be more to come. It is "the next step toward providing deer management services to the citizens of Montgomery County."  It is a slaughter, not a hunt, not a "harvest."

The Parks will be open to the public during this 4 month slaughter.  Imagine a dying deer stumbling through a playground.

The Humane Society of the U.S. has offered to work with Montgomery County to develop an effective, humane deer control program.  Montgomery County must accept this offer.
