Unlike everyone else in New York, the City's Park Savoy Hotel Homeless Shelter project gets to break every rule in the book. There is no standard for procedure or law and law-abiding neighborhood residents will endure the impact. ANY OTHER PROJECT CONDUCTED IN THIS WAY WOULD BE UNLAWFUL. We found out about the project when the information was leaked to a resident of the neighborhood. Our elected officials and local police precinct were also kept in the dark. Further, major construction work has been done on the Park Savoy without permits. There were 33 reports to 311 of this work being done, and finally, when Marcia Kramer of CBS news covered the story, the NYCDOB issued a stop work order. The order is still in place. So far there seems to be no oversight of this project or the Mayor's homeless policy in general. We urge all of you to continue sharing this petition far and wide and contact you Council members!
