I went out to the path today, one week on. The situation has been improved. The barriers are no longer strewn across the path, but there are now 3, sometimes 4(where the path is particularly wide) barriers placed lengthwise along the path at various points. As you can see in the photo, the ends are painted orange and they are lit. If one accepts that some type of barriers are needed, at least this arrangement keeps two lanes of traffic flow and doesn't require merging and slowing. Long term, it doesn't seem ideal to have so many concrete obstacles on the path and I have no doubt that there will be injuries as a result. However, my view is that it's a less objectionable, hopefully temporary, solution. With these changes, therefore, I do not intend to present the petition to the Mayor. I appreciate the support from the 236 of you and hope that no-one will be too upset. I'm sure that all of us who love the path will continue to monitor the situation and to respond, as necessary, if further dumb decisions are made. Thanks again.
