Every day millions of car engines are started for the simple purpose of moving from one side of the street to the other. People sit for hours with their engines idling, needlessly putting carbon into the atmosphere. This happens everyday in New York City. On my block alone you have to move your car everyday except for one. All the while 1 in 8 New York City kids suffers from asthma, and the rate is rapidly rising. I am asking Mayor de Blasio to put the health of New York City residents and the environment over city revenue from parking tickets. Stop the environmentally caustic practice of Alternate Side Parking. Let's engage local citizens who are looking for work to sweep streets clean. Let's expand programs like Ready, Willing and Able and employ people who need work while drastically reducing the amount of carbon NYC puts into the environment and helping our kids breathe easier.
