Asking Bill de Blasio To Boycott NYCLASS Fundraiser Over Scott Levenson's Anti-Gay Attack Ads

The animal rights nonprofit NYCLASS, which "spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to undermine City Council Speaker Christine Quinn's mayoral bid is holding a tony Manhattan fundraiser Dec. 4, and its main draw will be Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio, whose campaign benefited from the heavy anti-Quinn spending," reported Crains Insider.

The problem is that NYCLASS hired Scott Levenson as its political consultant.  Besides representing the NYCLASS Super PAC, "Mr. Levenson’s firm also represented City Action Coalition, an anti-same-sex-marriage group financed by a hedge funder from Princeton, N.J., and led by an evangelical minister who says Nazi tolerance of gays led to the Holocaust," reported The New York Times.

WE DEMAND THAT : Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio do not attend the NYCLASS fundraiser, as the money from that fundraiser will be used to pay Mr. Levenson, who took part in anti-LGBT attack ads against City Council candidates Rosie Mendez, Carlos Menchaca, and Ritchie Torres.

If Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio respects the equality and dignity of all LGBT New Yorkers, including the LGBT community's leaders, then the mayor-elect will not attend the NYCLASS fundraiser.
