Ban plastic straws in NYC!

The Issue

500 million plastic straws are thrown away every day in the US, filling our landfills and polluting our oceans. It is estimated that by 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than marine life (measured by weight) if we don't reduce the amount of plastic we consume. It is our responsibility to make the changes necessary in order to clean our oceans and create a more sustainable earth. A bill banning plastic straws was introduced on May 23, 2018, and if it were passed it would be a big step in reducing the amount of plastic that New Yorkers produce. Let's give NYC policymakers the one last push that they need in order to pass this bill and contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable city, country, and world.
