Universal Orlando Resort, Islands of Adventure, and City Walk have all reopened in Orlando, FL despite COVID-19 cases being higher than ever. This puts their team members at risk, many of which were previously furloughed or received just a portion of their normal salary during the lockdown portion of the pandemic. Many of these employees who were forced to go back to work too early were also recently fired during a large sweep of layoffs from the company last week AFTER being forced to return to the parks and potentially exposed to the virus. Additionally, many employees have recently contracted COVID-19 but are staying quiet so they can remain employed.

The only precautions being made are requiring masks in the dry areas of the parks, which means any guests at Volcano Bay only have to wear a mask on the shuttle bus to the water park. This is incredibly dangerous and they should be taking a nod from Disney which has chosen to stay closed to protect their guests and employees. Universal Orlando made the choice to close the parks in mid-March when there were only roughly 6,000 confirmed cases in the US. But since reopening on June 5th, today June 25th, 36,377 new cases were reported and the parks are remaining open.

It's absolutely disgusting that Universal Orlando is open right now and please sign this petition if you care at all about the Orlando community and want to hold Bill Davis accountable for his selfish actions. While we all want to be entertained and for this lockdown to be over it's completely irresponsible to pretend that things are back to normal and the only ethical choice at this time is to close the parks!
