Since 1993, Big Idea's VeggieTales characters have charmed children and adults alike. Their design has changed little, remaining silly and fun, but also very relatable, at least until this fall. VeggieTales has redesigned their characters to have colored irises for their eyes, eyebrows, and also differents shades of color and proportions for certain characters. These changes will premiere on the Netflix show, "VeggieTales in the House". Mike Nawrocki, co-creator of the VeggieTales series, has expressed exitement in these changes, saying that the VeggieTales characters were created based on the limitations of '90s technology, and that it's time to give them a fresher, modern look. While the new look may be fresh, it mostly makes the veggies look goofy, and most of all, creepy. While this may not matter to some children under the age of four, VeggieTales has a wider range of fans who do not appreciate the new look, and share their dissapproval in Facebook and YouTube comments. Personally, I have had no problem with the original 90s' look, and I think that the new look goes too far. There is no good reason that VeggieTales should so drastically change its appearance.
