Bring Back Dark Manor for All Platforms, Big Fish Games!!!
The Issue
Greetings,
Thank you for taking the time to stop by and read this post.
In 2013, Bigfish Games debuted a Hidden Object Game on IOS and PC platforms. Some of you avid players already know it as DM but for our potential new-comers and petitioners, it is known as Dark Manor. I know what you're thinking, it is just a game, and it happens. Yes, it might be just a game and yes games get discontinued all the time, but what about the people who benefited from it in some small way? It was a getaway for the stay at home mom, avenue for introverts to meet online, therapy for the senior crowd and just hours of escape. I guess it is safe to agree that this wasn’t just a game. It might not be as popular as Candy Crush, Coin Master, or whatever game tickles your fancy, but it sure did something for all players who had the pleasure of playing it. I first discovered the game in 2013 on my first iphone, I was a stay at home mom of a toddler at the time. We all know how that story goes. It was a way for me to escape the doldrums of daily life and enjoy this little haven of vivid imagery and solving tricky puzzles. We all have that one game on our phones that is our huge past time. I know we can all relate to sharing lives with that random player online, waiting for an hour for energy re-fills, the dreaded server offline message, in app purchases or the more content available message in the app store. I had a love/hate relationship with the game for a few years. The constant updates, the waiting for energy re-fills to advance in the story and the compatibility of the IOS platform. Unfortunately, I closed my Manor in the game and decided to take a break for a while.
A few years and expensive ipad later, I decided to re-visit my old and sometimes faithful friend, but to my chagrin the game was no longer available in the app store. I thought that surely there must be some sort of mistake! I spent hours scouring the internet looking for answers and then I found a closed post on the Bigfish Games website. In 2018, the plug was officially pulled on the game, and rather abruptly too. There wasn’t any announcements or notices to the players, just the dreaded message of the game being offline and no way to update the game. I was crestfallen, among many others. Well if it is no longer available online then it should at least be available on PC too? Nope, I hit a dead-end with that route too. I have tried playing other hidden object games, but nothing will ever come close to Dark Manor. If you are like me and still haven’t found a game to play, try Midnight Castle this game is available on all platforms yes, that includes you too PC and Android Users. You can’t build a manor, upgrade your estate, or play in day/night mode, but the imagery and content is enough to keep you captivated for hours of fun. Happy Tapping!
I am asking all who took the time to read this post, to please help me on this journey. It was a small community of us DM players, but we made it work. Bigfish Games I am also imploring you to please consider re-releasing the game on any platform or at least re-release the content that was already created. It’s not just a game, and I do dare to enter the Manor of the roaring 20s.
