Big Dan, Face the Miner: Demand a Hunter Debate

Big Dan, Face the Miner: Demand a Hunter Debate.

Dan Repacholi, Federal MP for Hunter. daniel.repacholi.mp@aph.gov.au

(mailto:daniel.repacholi.mp@aph.gov.au)) or phone ((02) 4991 1033).

Hunter voters deserve a fair go. Stuart Bonds, a coal miner and One Nation candidate, has challenged Labor MP Dan Repacholi to a public debate—venue booked, Sky News ready to film, terms set. Yet “Big Dan,” the 6’6” Olympian, is silent as a church mouse. Why’s a nurse-turned-MP dodging a working-class bloke who didn’t finish school?

Hunter’s been Labor’s since 1910, but under Repacholi, families sleep in cars or rough due to soaring rents (up 8%+), crippling power bills (up 20–30%), and a housing crisis (no new homes built). Coal jobs stagnate—1,200 lost since 2019—while wages crawl (2.4%) against inflation. Repacholi’s Facebook burger videos and $2600 art gifts from mining unions (2023 register) can’t hide his weak record: no major projects, no relief for families. Bonds, with 21.6% votes in 2019, demands answers on coal, energy, jobs, and housing. Repacholi’s silence insults us.

We demand Dan Repacholi face Stuart Bonds in a public debate before the 2025 election. No excuses. Sign to hold Labor accountable and give Hunter’s struggling families a voice!
