Why this petition matters

Started by Katrina Hart

We present this petition to the Chief Executive Officer of Endemol Shine Australia Pty Ltd, Director of Production and Post Production of Endemol Shine Australia Pty Ltd, The Chief Operations Officer of Endemol Shine Australia Pty Ltd, The Chief Executive Officer / Managing Director of Channel Seven, The Director of Production Channel Seven, The Post Producer of Big Brother Australia, Channel Seven, and all other parties involved in the production, editing, distribution and airing of Big Brother Australia

The current format of Big Brother Australia is unsatisfactory to us, the viewers and signatures of this petition. Your advertisement of “who wins you decide” is misleading and a manipulation of the truth. The current version does not allow viewers to vote or save their favourite housemate from eviction, and incites a culture that borders on bullying. Housemates are allowed to speak about nominations and / or voting, therefore allowing or encouraging housemates to “gang up” against others. This a very poor example to any minors who are watching the Big Brother Australia. The current version of Big Brother Australia is heavily edited by the production team and it can be construed as Big Brother Australia manipulating the show to choose the winner they want. Live Streaming into the house during filming would give the viewers a better opportunity to choose who they wish to vote / evict. Challenges are unfair to some housemates.

Changes we would like to see occur are as follows:-

1.     Live Streaming into the house, whereby viewers can see what is actually happening between housemates and viewers are not relying on a heavily edited version.

2.     The public votes housemates out for eviction. The show is for the viewers and only the viewers should be voting housemates out of the house. The advertisement of “who wins you decide” is very misleading as often the viewers do not have the opportunity to vote or save their favourite housemate.

3.     The challenges are fair and give every housemate the same fair chance of winning, the current version are physical challenges which not only gets boring with the same person winning but it is unfair. A combination of physical, psychological and mental challenges would be fair.

4.     Housemates are banned from talking about nominations / voting and will be punished if they break this rule. The current version incites a culture that borders on bullying and is a poor example to minors who are watching.

5.     Friday Night games to be re-introduced, whereby the winner will get a special reward, for example immunity from eviction

6.     Live Evictions so the public gets to hear from the evictee that night live
