Do justice, Return Legacy - Start Marhowrah Saran Factory
The Issue
Marhowrah once had four industries — the sugar mill, Morton Sweets, Saran Engineering and an oil mill since 1904. It was giving thousands of direct and indirect employment to the people of saran. One by one, all of them downed shutters due to bad governance. Unemployment is first reason due to youth getting diverted from thier core path and getting involved in other wrong activities.
The assets and liabilities of the sick, govt-owned Cawnpore Sugar Works Ltd have been passed on to the UP-based JHV Distilleries and Sugars Ltd by Board of Institutional Finance and Restructuring (BIFR). Marhowrah has become the first closed mill in the state where work on revival has started.
Says chairman of JHV, Jawahar Jaiswal: "We will certainly start production by November 2007." JHV will pay the dues of farmers and employees in three installments, two years after production begins
Jaiswal, who owns two mills in UP, says his company distributed seeds among farmers last year and sugarcane has been grown in 35,000 acres. "By February-March, 25,000 acres more will be added which will ensure 60 lakh quintal of cane for our factory when we start production,"
Rajiv Pratap Rudy,MP from Chhapra who hails from the region. "I have been trying since 1999 (to revive the mill). Now I have urged the state government to follow this model and revive its 20-odd closed mills," he said.
But, after all effort there is no results on ground. Even things got worst as result of 25 years of closure. All machinery, Iron even building brick are stolen by gangs and local police are mute.
