After 18 years of dedication and service to the Bowling Green State University Falcon Marching Band, Guy Batterson was unexpectedly dismissed from his position as The Voice of the Falcon Marching Band. He was informed via email with no warning or reasons given that his services were no longer needed.       
     A little background on Guy Batterson, for those of you who do not know him. His name is synonymous with the words service and dedication.  Guy was a member of the BGSU Sousaphone section and served as a section leader in 2004.  In the year 2006, he was a truck crew driver, a tedious job that helps ensure things such as water bottles, instruments, podiums, plumes and other band equipment gets to whatever location it needs to be in. 
     Guy became the announcer for the Falcon Marching Band in 2007.  Whenever the band would travel to support the football team, he would travel to support the band.  From MAC Championships, to Bowl Games, Guy was always there, voice booming and grinning ear to ear.  To band members, he was their comfort and voice. Having him in their FMB family is a tradition that linked them to past members. 
     We are collecting signatures to not only bring awareness to his wrongful termination the night before gameday in the middle of the season but also with the hopes of reinstating his position. The Marching Band will miss out without him being their voice. Guy has been there keeping the tradition and pride alive for The Falcon Marching Band. Even through multiple band directors, his presence was the stability the band needed.  Please help us keep the sun shining on The Falcon Marching Band.
