Dear Friends of Mountain Creek
Our supporters will be disappointed to learn, if they were not already aware, that the city recently granted permits to the developer to fill and grade the property around Reads Lake and across from the Montclair condos. This work is expected to begin in the coming week before Christmas.

The elevation of the ground around Reads Lake extending to Mountain Creek Road and to Reads Lake Road will be built up to several feet above street level. Thankfully, TDEC is requiring thirty foot buffers to protect all of Reads Lake and other recognized ponds and streams to prevent intrusion and destruction. FOMC remains opposed to an incorrect classification of one specific feature that we believe is wetlands and also to plans for drainage from the low area on Mountain Creek Road. We will continue to challenge these aspects of the permit this week.

Do not be disheartened. The disposition of the Quarry is not finalized. This permit is for grading and filling only. The clubhouse lawsuit remains unresolved and we remain confident in a positive outcome.  The balance of the property remains zoned R-1 and with the support of our Councilman and each of you, we will derail the next PUD application that may again propose high density.

Thanks for Supporting FOMC.
