Firstly, I’d like to say thank you to another incredibly brave survivor who has trusted me with her story. She has chosen to remain anonymous, and I am honoured to be able to share her experience with her permission.

“I was in an abusive relationship with my ex for four years, three of which were abusive. I finally, with the help of my friends, found the confidence to leave him after he killed my family pet.

I reported him to the police, but there was a lack of evidence.

He then continued to stalk me for two and a half years. Even after I moved house twice, he still managed to find me. Eventually, the police took action and he was convicted of stalking, but he was released on an early release scheme before serving his full sentence.

When he got out, he continued to stalk me. I became so mentally unwell that I could barely leave the house. I was terrified for my life, but the police couldn’t do anything because I couldn’t prove what was happening.

He got a new girlfriend, continued stalking me, and became abusive towards her too. She reported him, but again there wasn’t enough evidence. He then started stalking her as well, and one day he beat her within an inch of her life.

He’s now back in prison, but he’s due to be released early again.

Both of us are terrified. We live in fear of the day he gets out. I have no protection because his latest case wasn’t against me, and she has a piece of paper saying he’s not allowed to contact her or be in certain areas.

A piece of paper cannot protect either of us, and it feels like nobody cares. He has a long history of offending, yet he keeps getting early release.

I just want to heal and learn to love myself again, but they keep letting him out to destroy me.

Saying I feel let down would be an understatement. Something needs to change before too many people die or lose hope.”

Sadly, this survivor’s story reflects an issue that many victims know all too well.

Stalking is not simply unwanted attention—it is a pattern of behaviour that can leave victims living in constant fear. Many survivors change their routines, move house, avoid seeing friends and family, give up jobs, or feel unable to leave their homes because they never know when the next message, sighting or confrontation will happen.

Research has consistently shown that stalking is one of the strongest indicators of escalating domestic abuse and can be a significant risk factor for serious violence or homicide. Despite this, victims often report feeling that their concerns are not fully recognised until the abuse has escalated or there is enough evidence for criminal action.

No one should have to wait until they are seriously injured before they are believed or protected.

Thank you again to this survivor for sharing such a personal account. Your courage is helping others understand the long-lasting impact of domestic abuse and stalking, and why so many survivors continue living in fear long after a relationship has ended.

This is exactly why this campaign exists.

It is not about one survivor or one offender. It is about asking whether more can be done to protect victims from repeat violent offenders, strengthen safeguards around early release, and ensure that persistent patterns of abuse are recognised before another life is changed forever.

💜 If you have your own story and would like it shared anonymously as part of this campaign, please send me a message. Every survivor deserves to be heard, and every story helps people understand why change is needed.

Please continue to sign and share the petition. Every signature brings us one step closer to making victims’ voices impossible to ignore. 💜
