Better Public Transit for a Growing Riverview
The Issue
Riverview, New Brunswick, is growing. New homes, new developments, new families, and new opportunities. But there’s one thing that isn’t keeping up: our public transportation.
For too many residents, taking the bus means limited routes, long waits, inconvenient connections, and little flexibility during evenings and weekends.
And this isn’t just about people who ride the bus.
It’s about teenagers who can’t get to jobs or activities without relying on their parents. Shift workers who struggle to get to and from work. Seniors who need access to services. Families juggling schedules because public transit simply isn’t a practical option.
A growing community shouldn’t require everyone to own a vehicle just to participate in everyday life.
We acknowledge the two additional buses planned for 2027. It’s a welcome step, but residents deserve to know what those buses will actually change and when they can expect better service.
What We’re Asking For
We are calling on Riverview Town Council, Codiac Transpo, and the Public Transit Governance Committee to commit to:
- MORE FREQUENT SERVICE — Shorter waits and more dependable schedules.
- BETTER EVENING & WEEKEND SERVICE — Transportation that works for shift workers, students, and families.
- EXPANDED ROUTES — Improved coverage in East Riverview, West Riverview, and growing neighbourhoods.
- FASTER, MORE DIRECT CONNECTIONS — Practical travel between Riverview, Moncton, and Dieppe.
- A CLEAR PLAN WITH REAL DEADLINES — Publicly available timelines showing how and when services will improve.
- A VOICE FOR RESIDENTS — Meaningful consultation with the people who actually depend on these services.
It’s Time for Action, Not Just Promises.
We aren’t asking for overnight solutions. We’re asking for a concrete plan, measurable improvements, and accountability.
As Riverview continues to approve new developments and welcome more residents, accessible transportation must be part of that growth, not an afterthought.
A community’s success isn’t measured only by how many people move here. It’s measured by how well those people can live, work, and participate in it.
