The Issue

I petition for increased public awareness and education about Alzheimer’s disease, aiming to reduce stigma, improve early diagnosis, and empower families and caregivers. Alzheimer’s affects millions, yet many remain unaware of its symptoms, impact, and available resources. By launching widespread educational campaigns, training healthcare professionals, and promoting early detection, we can ensure that more individuals receive the care they need, and more families are supported in navigating this challenging journey. It is time to prioritise Alzheimer’s awareness and give everyone the tools to recognize and respond to this devastating disease. Furthermore, by investing in community programs and research initiatives, we can not only alleviate the current burden of Alzheimer’s but also pave the way for innovative treatments and improved quality of life for future generations.

Here are some facts:

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia, affecting over 55 million people worldwide, with nearly 6.2 million

Americans aged 65 and older are currently living with the condition. It is a progressive disorder that gradually impairs memory and cognitive function, placing a significant emotional and financial burden on families.

In the U.S. alone, the cost of Alzheimer’s care exceeds $355 billion annually, and with the number of cases expected to double by 2050, early diagnosis, increased public awareness, and robust caregiver support are more critical than ever.
