Better Parking for Cathedral Street

Better Parking for Cathedral Street
The issue
We are local residents and business owners seeking a fair and practical improvement to parking on Cathedral Street, Woolloomooloo. Currently, a temporary works zone occupies two parking spaces in front of 129 Cathedral Street. Once construction is complete, we are proposing a new parking arrangement for just these two spaces that better supports the needs of our neighbourhood.
The proposed change is:
"P 5 min"
This proposal applies only to the two existing works zone spaces and does not affect the rest of the parking along Cathedral Street.
This change aims to:
- Provide quick-turnover parking for short visits, pickups, and deliveries
- Reduce congestion and discourage long-term vehicle storage in high-demand areas
- Support local businesses by improving accessibility for customers and service vehicles
- Create a more balanced and functional parking environment for the neighbourhood
The City of Sydney has advised that evidence of broad community support is essential before any changes can be approved. We are inviting residents and neighbours to support this simple, practical proposal that will benefit the wider community once the current construction zone is removed.
If you agree that this parking change will improve accessibility, reduce congestion, and better serve our local area, please sign the petition to show your support!
