RE: Formal Request — Tennis Court Upgrade to Dual-Use Facility (Tennis & Pickleball) and Soccer Field Renovation

Dear Trossachs HOA Board of Directors,

We, the undersigned residents of the Trossachs community, are writing to formally and urgently request that the Board take immediate action on two long-overdue community amenity improvements: (1) upgrading the existing tennis court to a dual-use facility that accommodates both tennis and pickleball, and (2) a complete renovation of the soccer field.

1. Tennis Court Upgrade to Dual-Use Facility

Pickleball is now the fastest-growing sport in the United States, and demand within our community reflects this national trend. Today, Trossachs residents who wish to play pickleball must travel to neighboring communities such as Klahanie and Issaquah Highlands to access courts — an inconvenience that is both unnecessary and unacceptable.

We wish to be clear: we are not asking for the tennis court to be removed or replaced. We are requesting that the court be upgraded to a dual-use facility, with pickleball lines and nets added so that residents can enjoy both sports. Tennis players will continue to have full access to the court as they do today. This is a straightforward, cost-effective upgrade that has been successfully implemented in communities throughout the region — and it serves more residents without taking anything away from anyone.

Beyond recreation, pickleball has proven to be a powerful community connector. Its explosive rise in popularity is no coincidence — during and after the pandemic, pickleball gave people a way to break out of isolation, meet their neighbors, and rebuild a sense of belonging. A pickleball court in Trossachs would serve not just as a sports facility, but as a gathering place that strengthens the fabric of our community.

What is most frustrating is that this is not a new request. Residents raised this issue with the Board over two years ago and were told that the HOA was in the process of identifying vendors for the project. Since then, there has been no follow-through, no updates, and — critically — no mention of this item in any recent Board meeting. The issue appears to have been quietly buried during the transition to new HOA management. That is not acceptable to us.

2. Soccer Field

Trossachs does have a soccer field, but in its current condition it is effectively unusable. The surface is severely uneven and bumpy, making it unsafe for play and unsuitable as a community amenity. A prior HOA Board promised residents that this field would be properly renovated. That commitment has not been honored.

A soccer field in name only — one that residents cannot safely use — does not fulfill the Board's obligation to this community. We expect a complete makeover of the field, restoring it to a condition that is safe, playable, and worthy of the Trossachs community.

Our Formal Requests

We are requesting the following specific actions from the Board:

  1. Place the tennis court dual-use upgrade (tennis + pickleball) and soccer field renovation projects as formal agenda items at the next Board meeting, with a public discussion open to residents.
  2. Provide a clear, written timeline for the tennis court dual-use upgrade, including vendor selection and projected completion.
  3. Commit to a complete renovation of the existing soccer field, which is currently in an unsafe and unusable condition, with a concrete plan, vendor selection, and projected completion date.
  4. Communicate the Board's response to all Trossachs residents, not only to the signatories of this letter.

We are submitting this petition with the signatures of the residents listed below, representing a significant portion of our community. We are committed to working constructively with the Board to see these improvements realized — but we expect prompt, transparent, and decisive action.

We look forward to the Board's timely response and trust that this matter will receive the attention it deserves.

Respectfully,

Trossachs Residents
