The Twin Cities are the home of Prince. The metro area is currently served by two existing light rail routes; the Blue Line and the Green Line. A new line, named the Green Line extention, is currently being planned between downtown Minneapolis and the Southwest suburb of Eden Prarie. The first station of this line is only blocks away from the iconic First Avenue music venue (as seen in the movie Purple Rain), and its last stop is just a few miles away from Prince's infamous Paisley Park home in Chanhassen. We urge the Met Council board overseeing the project, as well as city leaders along the proposed line, to change the name of this route from the boring and bureaucratic moniker of "Green Line Extension" to the much more sexy and significant "Purple Line" in honor of our late homegrown musical hero.
