Make Earth Day a federally recognized holiday! Trees need hugs!

Make Earth Day a federally recognized holiday! Trees need hugs!

The Issue

The chances of each and every one of us existing at this very moment is 1 in 102,685,000. If this Earth and our lives are not a miracle, what is?

Climate change. One too many precious wildlife on the verge of extinction. All unfortunately due to the bad decisions humans have made thus far. It is time we stop disrespecting Mother Earth. It is time we stop taking her for granted. It is time we stop taking advantage of her. The very least we can do now as a human race is dedicate one day to literally hugging a tree, planting a tree, paying more attention to the nature around us and what it's telling us, recognizing that we all are connected and part of nature, and being at peace with nature. Earth Day deserves to be a federally recognized holiday. We can all afford to have a day off from school or work to enjoy what nature and the Great Mystery has gifted us with and teach our kids how to take care care of our home, Mother Earth. Our kids will be, after all, inheriting the Earth we leave for them.

More than 165 countries signed the Paris Agreement on April 22, 2016 (Earth Day) in which each country has committed to setting goals to reducing their carbon emissions and other greenhouse gases responsible for global warming and thus climate change. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development directly coincide with the signing of the Paris Agreement and other sustainable development issues. Making Earth Day a federally recognized holiday will only compliment this historic movement for making Mother Earth healthy again.

Please sign this petition and contact your state Senators and Representatives and tell them Earth Day deserves to be a federally recognized holiday!
