Request Bethesda to Sell or Discontinue Fallout Franchise.

The Issue

The Fallout franchise at one point was the envy of the RPG world, producing two of among the greatest role playing experiences this industry has seen to date. They featured fantastic writing, brilliant dialogue, insanely thick and immersive atmosphere, a wealth of extremely interesting characters to interact with and locations to explore, incredible art direction, an epic journey that feels like it spans years and years instead of a week, deep class building where every little stat made a difference actually and fantastic character progression, excellent pacing, extremely entertaining and varied quests that give the player multiple ways of completing them, tons of choices and decisions to make across the game that genuinely question your characters ethics and morality, each which have consequences that directly affect the way your game plays and the way the world around you behaves and tactical combat that requires strategy.

While Fallout 1 and 2 certainly had many flaws they had an INCREDIBLE base for a game that had endless opportunities for expanding upon, until In 2003 when Bethesda bought the license from Interplay, which resulted in the cancellation of a near complete Fallout game that resembled the first two entries of the franchise, Bethesda went on to deliver an open world action game with a few light RPG mechanics such as levelling up, stats and perks, minimal role playing, an extremely minimal amount of choices to make throught and even the most 'significant' of them having little to no impact on the games world, boring MMO-like quests, awful and uninspired dialogue/writing to say the least, terrible character progression, mindless combat that requires no thought at all, non-existent classes, stats and perks that hardly make a difference, boring and extremely linear main questline, boring and one dimensional world, extremely awful AI that fails to be any sort of challenge, even on the hardest difficulty after the first few levels and an incredibly bland atmosphere.

While Fallout 3 may not have been an absolutely god awful, terrible, abomination of a game as it was completely functional from beginning to end and there were far worse games out then, it seemingly killed off the franchise for fans who liked RPGs and not linear action games void of any depth, until Obsidian released New Vegas which some how turned Fallout 3 into a fun game and made a great attempt to iron out a lot of the issues fans of the franchise had with Fallout 3 and as a result turned out to be a worthy spin-off of the Fallout franchise.

With the release of Fallout 4, I genuinely expected Bethesda to make more of an effort in creating a fun game in hopes they'd take a bit of influence from the vastly superior New Vegas, but instead pulled off the complete opposite by taking Fallout 3 and somehow even further dumbing it down with ludicrous design choices such as completely removing stats, adding in a shallow dialogue wheel, combat that feels like a generic consolized modern shooter, still has GOD AWFUL writing, their worst writing yet, some how even more bugged, I witnessed more bugs in the opening hours of this game than every Bethesda title I've slogged through on launch all combined, AI is even worse, visually an eye-sore not only because the graphics engine looks almost identical to Fallout 3 with a few mods but because the art direction is flatter than ever, NPCs are wooden and have terrible writing, the worst character progression seen in a Bethesda game to date and the most monotonous quests seen in a Bethesda title to date too. Fallout 4 has no redeemable qualities of the franchise and while it may be a fun wondering simulator for some that lets you blow things up and has the MMO-like quests you'd expect from Bethesda, this fails miserably as an RPG in every regard that defines one.

I no longer deem Bethesda a competent developer for the Fallout franchise, they only worsen their errors and am requesting that they discontinue rubbing this legendary franchises name through the mud. Fallout 4 is a complete joke, even by Bethesda's standards and this needs to end.
