Across the 2026 Olivier-nominated productions, 40–60% had credited fight direction or equivalent roles, across plays, musicals, opera, and family theatre.

A fight director collaborates with directors and actors to create safe, story-driven combat that enhances both narrative and performance. Blending artistic vision with technical expertise, fight direction is a vital theatrical craft that shapes audience engagement and deserves greater recognition on prestigious platforms.
