We are concerned community members of South Newcastle Beach that don`t want the beach covered by concrete in excess of 700m2 for a skate bowl. This will drastically affect the beach use for the general public as the seawall that protects the bowl extends 25 metres seaward of the existing promenade and 26 metres along the beach. The subsequent stairs built out to the skate bowl stretches for 150 metres along the beach as well. These structures have the ability to accelerate beach erosion levels unprecedent in this century thus effecting beach amenity on a grand scale.
