The H.R. 1 For The People Act is clearly written and straight forward. An honest attempt to improve our democracy that is supported by both Republican and Democrat a like. It has already passed the house and now needs to pass the senate.

Automatic Voter Registration:

SEC. 1012. A. 1. "The chief State election official of each State shall establish and operate a system of automatic registration for the registration of eligible individuals to vote for elections for Federal office in the State" - Only applies to Federal elections. The bill goes on to outline privacy measures for voters and protection for voter purging.

End Gerrymandering:

SEC. 24151. A. 1."The nonpartisan agency established or designated by a State under section 2454(a) shall establish an independent redistricting commission under this part for the State, which shall consist of 15 members appointed by the agency" - The bill sets out requirements for independent redistricting commissions, selecting members from majority party, minority party, and independents, including public hearings and a voting process for determining final voting districts.
