Stop throwing CS gas into Calais 'jungle'

Stop throwing CS gas into Calais 'jungle'
The Issue
Riot police in Calais (CRS) keep throwing gas grenades into the camp and on the shelters where people sleep, including numerous infants, unaccompanied minors (the youngest are 8 or 9) and women. The gas used is CS gas of a nasty quality. Usually police start firing gas grenades and rubber bullets on the motorway as a mean to deter people who are trying to board lorries going to England. They are firing directly into the crowd and many people have been injured. This is illegal, and it is also illegal to fire gas and rubber bullets on the shelters where people sleep; there is no need nor justification for it: it is a form of collective punishment, even against people who are not trying to go to England. Often gas grenades are fired deep into the camp and the clouds of gas are so dense and toxic that everybody have to leave. Often the roofs of wooden shelters catch fire when gas grenades fall on them. Often people get sick and collapse unconscious from the effects of CS gas. This is particularly worrying when the people affected by tear gas are pregnant women, young children and babies. Conditions in the jungle are already terrible, nobody deserves to live there, and I believe the practice of throwing of CS gas into the camp must stop immediately.
