Ban the Boston Police Department from Accessing Berklee College of Music Facilities
The Issue
It was recently discovered that the Boston Police Department was using the Berklee Performance Center as a congregating area during the protests occurring in Boston on June 7, 2020. It has been verified that access to Berklee facilities was directly endorsed and allowed by the higher-ups at the college. Providing express assistance to an institution built upon racism and white supremacy is wrong. When considering that the Berklee College of Music bases its curriculum around black art, this action goes beyond just being wrong--it is pure hypocrisy. We demand that Roger Brown (the school's president) give us real answers, real action, and real change in light of this infuriating and shortsighted action.
