We the undersigned strongly support the effort to fulfill Berkeley Unified School District's Sustainability Goals with regard to supporting waste reduction through minimizing disposables in cafeteria service.  A move to reusables will not only promote the goals the District has set for waste reduction, but will:

• Save money 
• Demonstrate an active commitment to reducing greenhouse gases and therefore climate change within the District
• Reduce exposure to harmful chemicals in plastic  
• Ensure a healthier student body district wide.  

School Green Teams, the Berkeley Youth Commission, parents, students, community organizers and City Council members are in support of our effort to bring BUSD into alignment with the values expressed by enactment of City's Single Use Foodware and Litter Reduction Ordinance.
