YONDR Pouches should be banned from Berkeley High School

The Issue

YONDR is a company that makes felt pouches for students to magnetically lock their phones into. For some reason, Berkeley High School decided to spend $10,000 this year so every freshman “hive” class could have access to about 30 pouches and a magnetic base.

Students have been abusing these pouches, by breaking them, writing on them, and cutting them open. They will soon be completely unusable, and the high school’s money will go down the drain, just like Fetty Wap‘s music. Students have also been linking them together to create the now-famous “YONDR-Snake”, and attaching them to the lower deck of chairs.

Students have also been figuring out ways to break into the YONDR pouches, like bringing their own magnets to school (Neodymium is highly recommended), opening them using the leg of a table and pushing against the corner with a sufficient amount of force (you might need multiple people), or opening them with their bare hands (which makes you hella cool cuz ur hella jacked).

This can also be a severe hazard in cases of emergency. If students need access to their cell phone, in an urgent matter, they will have to go get the YONDR pouch, find the base, unlock it, and then finally take out their phone to get to what they need. In addition, Berkeley High School isn’t the most wealthy school. There are many problems that need to be fixed, but are unable to be fixed because of the lack of money, which is being spent on something completely useless.

Berkeley High could be using their budget way better, to solve REAL issues around campus. Sign this petition to support banning YONDR pouches!
