Background Information 

Mother, Amber Pack, placed a recording device in her daughter Adri's hair and recorded 8 hours of horrifying verbal, mental and physical abuse by a teacher and 2 aides.  Adri and the other children in the classroom are non-verbal and require additional learning assistance.

Adri's Story

The Berkeley County (WV) School Board failed to mandatory report the abuse, failed to inform parents of children within the same classroom of the abuse, failed to immediately remove the teacher and aides from the classroom and failed their duty to protect and educate the most vulnerable children.

The Berkeley County BoE is now targeting and attacking Amber Pack by suing her for doing everything she could to protect her daughter from abuse. West Virginia is a one party consent state and these bullying tactics are meant to discourage and prevent ALL parents and children from reporting abuse occurring within our schools.  (The lawsuit was dropped, but the damage has already been done!)

We, the citizens of Berkeley County, WV are demanding that the Berkeley County Council immediately proceed with section §6-6-7 of WV State Code to remove all school Board members.  We demand that the Berkeley County Board of Election Members resign immediately and that the WV State Board of Education Members take immediate action to ensure this never happens again.  We demand that WV State Superintendent takes immediate action against the school, individuals involved and the Board of Education.

This outrageous attempt to silence those who are protecting children from abuse is an example of why the community no longer has faith in the Berkeley County Board of Education.

Due to the Berkeley County Board of Educations failure to thoroughly investigate this matter, failure to act in a timely manner and failure to take appropriate action the WV Attorney General, Patrick Morrisey has had to intervene.  His office has spent hundreds of hours interviewing dozens of witnesses and has come to the conclusion that the original investigation conducted by the BoE "was not handled well at all" and that the "investigation report was very ineffective".  Here is the press conference.

WV AG Files Suit Against Berkeley County BoE

Please sign this petition to demand that the below requests to Berkeley County Council, Berkeley County Board of Education and WV State Board of Education members act now.

Overview of requests:

Requests to Berkeley County Council:

1. Request to Berkeley County Council to use WV Code 6-6-7 to remove the elected Members of the Berkeley County Council.
2. Request to Berkeley County Council to host a Public Forum in the evening for Berkeley County citizens to attend and voice their concerns in reference to the elected members of the Berkeley County Board of Education.
3. Request to Berkeley County Council to take an official vote on whether or not the council will take action to remove the Berkeley County Board of Education elected members.

Request to Berkeley County Board of Education elected members:

1. Request to all Berkeley County Board of Education members that each of you resign immediately.

Requests to West Virginia State Board of Education:

1. Request to WV State Board of Education to hold an administrative hearing to review the actions of the Berkeley County Board of Education members.
2. Request to WV State Board of Education develop well defined policies and procedures for County Board of Education members, school administrators and parents on how to handle abuse claims against teachers and school personnel, conduct investigations and report suspected abuse.
3. Request to WV State Board of Education to issue a no confidence statement against the members of the Berkeley County Board of Education.

Requests to West Virginia State Superintendent of Schools:

1. Begin investigation and disciplinary actions against the School.
2. Begin investigation and disciplinary actions against the school personnel.
3. Begin investigation and disciplinary actions against the Board of Education

Request to all State Senate & Legislative members from Berkeley County:

1. Support your constituents in their efforts to make change so that no other Berkeley County student is abused again.
2. Enact legislation that will require school personnel to be immediately removed from the classroom or contact with children during an abuse, harassment or misconduct investigation.
3. Publicly issue statements of "No Confidence" in the current Berkeley County Board of Education.
