Why this petition matters

During my eight week doctors visit, I was informed about the death of my unborn child. Two weeks later, my water broke and I had labor and delivery in the toilet over a 48 hour time period. My employer did not acknowledge my loss as fitting their bereavement policy. I was denied the ten days off that I would have gotten if the child had died outside of my body. I had to take a leave of absence from work because of the overwhelmed grief I have experience over the loss of my unborn child.

Women need time to grieve this significant loss. It is unjust, unfair, and inhumane to not allow mothers who suffer the loss of unborn children the same courtesy as mother who suffer the loss of children outside of the womb. The loss of an unborn child impacts women emotionally, mentally, and physically.

The local, state, and federal government can help make this possible. Give grieving women the same time off for children who die inside the womb!
