You often hear, "beauty is pain", but pain for who? 

Imagine being locked in a cage at risk of being burned, injected with addictive substances, and exposed to lethal diseases with no say in the matter. Some of the leading cosmetic companies, such as Benefit Cosmetics, are exploiting innocent animals to fuel profit. 

In the last decade, the concept of brand social responsibility and sustainability has become an immense factor in consumer culture. Consumers want to trust and support corporations that are committed to making the corporate world, and the world as a whole, a better place. Often times though, consumers blindly trust sustainability statements, allowing companies such as Benefit to steer away from ethical practices. 

Benefit Cosmetics states that they are cruelty-free and deeply concerned with the elimination of cosmetic testing worldwide but they continue to fund animal testing of their cosmetics in China, where such testing is mandatory. In directly stating they do not test on animals, they are misleading consumers to believe falsified information regarding the brand to gain profit. 

In signing this petition, you are urging Benefit Cosmetics to be transparent with their unethical practices and to put an end to the unnecessary suffering of innocent animals. Benefit beauty is pain, but it does not need to be.
