We, the undersigned of Belmar, have joined together to EXPRESS OUR CONCERN with overbuilding in residential areas. To date there are NO 4 story buildings east of Main St. However, a 4 story building is being constructed on 9th and Main with apartments and first floor commercial space, and a 4+ story condo building is proposed for 12th Ave, to replace a 3 story hotel. We believe that the intention of the Master Plan is clear and these types of development should not be approved. These types of structures place a burden on infrastructure, traffic, light, shadows, wind, noise and encroaches on neighbors’ privacy.

In summary, based on the Master Plan, NO 4 story structures are permitted in R (residential) districts. These high, dense buildings detract from the general character of the Borough. Would you want a 4+ story building as your neighbor? Or, would you prefer a lower density neighborhood for you and your family to enjoy?
