Mayfair Class of 2020

Mayfair Class of 2020

The Issue

To whom it may concern,

We, the class of 2020, have lost our senior experience in high school due to a worldwide pandemic. We have gone through 12 years of school in hopes of walking across the stage and officially graduating. Now we are watching other students from different high schools have their own form of a graduation ceremony. They are having drive by graduations, a mock graduation for students to receive their diplomas one by one; yet Mayfair seniors simply watch and observe. We have not received any information regarding graduation festivities. While other schools in the county begin to pass out cap and gowns, yearbooks, signs and banners provided by the district; Mayfair continued to do nothing for their seniors. Our parents have made signs for seniors and selling them for $6 per sign. When parents want to honor their students by hanging banners around the school, they are taken down. Everytime they give us "new" information, it is old information we already knew about. We don't even have a date for a virtual graduation! We as a class are willing to do anything until we get the proper recognition we deserve with an in person ceremony, even if it means having one in the future. As of right now, a virtual graduation is all we can have but we would like to have a formal graduation ceremony in the future like every other class.  Please sign the petition and help us convince Counsels, Governors, School Districts, and other authorities that this is our year to shine and no matter what happens we will continue to fight!
