The Issue

Every year, millions of dollars are taken out of Canadian wireless customers’ pockets by Bell, TELUS and Rogers in the form of overpriced daily roaming fees. These fees represent some of the highest prices in the world for international roaming*.

This past October, a CRTC investigation revealed roaming fees for Canadian travellers are often inflexible, causing consumers to pay a flat fee of $10 to $16 per day regardless of the amount of usage. The CRTC's Chairperson, stated clearly, "Canadians need to stay connected when they travel, but often come home to high cellphone bills.”

This is just wrong. It’s time for a change.

The CRTC gave Bell, TELUS, and Rogers until November 4, 2024, to identify concrete action - but no significant concrete action has been provided.

We demand an end to these unfair and inflexible roaming fees, and we call on the incumbent carriers to take it upon themselves to implement fair and affordable roaming options for their customers. Once and for all.

Sign the petition and send a message to the incumbent carriers that overpriced and greedy roaming fees have to go. It's time to demand affordable and worry-free wireless options for all Canadians - whether you're a Freedom customer or not, we are committed to fight for you. That's a promise.

*The CRTC commissioned the study that was conducted by Networks, Economic & Strategy Inc. (Comparative Analysis of International Mobile Wireless Roaming Rates of Canadian Wireless Service Providers and International Counterparts). October 7, 2024.
