Bell Senior High track problems
Bell Senior High track problems
The Issue
I am writing this petition on behalf of all students at Bell Senior High who are frustrated with the current state of our dirt track, and LAUSD does not want to give us a rubber track for our school even with the funds to build it. The situation is dire, and I have experienced this firsthand. Recently, I suffered an injury on our poorly maintained dirt track and was unable to participate in my sport for an entire season. The loose and uneven surface of the dirt track is not only prone to becoming a muddy mess with rain but sometimes becomes a litter box for wandering animals. It has become an injury hotspot for many students, jeopardizing the safety and health of those who strive to remain active and competitive in their sports.
A rubber track would transform our school sports environment. It's much safer, significantly reducing the risk of injury due to its more forgiving and even surface. Unlike the dirt track, which is unusable after a rainstorm, a rubber track can be used all year round, ensuring consistent training and physical education sessions regardless of the weather.
Statistics and studies overwhelmingly support the benefits of rubber tracks. Not only do they contribute to fewer injuries, but they also enhance athletic performance by providing better grip and stability. Schools across the nation have transitioned to rubber tracks for these very reasons, successfully providing safer, more accessible sports facilities for their students.
Moreover, having a rubber track could increase the competitiveness and morale of our track teams. It's disheartening for students to work hard yet be hindered by the limitations of an inadequate training facility. A rubber track would showcase the school's commitment to supporting its athletes and promoting overall student well-being.
The Bell Senior High community deserves a learning environment where the facilities match their ambitions and dedication. By upgrading to a rubber track, not only do we acknowledge the needs of our students, but we also take a significant step towards advocating for their safety and success.
Join us in making Bell Senior High a safer and more supportive place for student athletes. Let's ensure that no other student has to endure preventable injuries due to the inadequate condition of our dirt track. We urge the school administration and local education authorities to commit to this vital upgrade. Please sign this petition and help us make Bell Senior High a better place for everyone.
