سكان حي حديقة اليسوعية والمناطق المحيطة بها ممتنون للغاية لكل الدعم والإهتمام الذي تقدمه بيت البركة بعد انفجار 4 آب 2021 .بدون دعمكم، لم تكن العديد من العائلات لتستطيع العودة إلى منازلها بأمان. كما أننا نقدر كثيرا تدخلكم لتحسين البنية التحتية المشتركة لبعض المباني المحيطة بحديقة اليسوعية العامة ونحن نرحب بنيتكم للعمل على الحديقة نفسها.

نود أن نتوجه اليكم برسالة فيما يتعلق بالتصميم المقترح للحديقة العامة الذي تم تقديمه يوم الأربعاء 29 سبتمبر 2021 .نأسف بشدة لعدم مشاركة المجتمع في عملية التصميم، حيث نعتقد أن سكان ألحي كان بإمكانهم المساهمة بشكل كبير في هذا المشروع. جلسة الإستماع العامة كانت مفتوحة لمدعوين محددين وكان عرضا للتصميم وليس فرصة لمشاركة المجتمع و ألأهلي. نود أن نطلب من بيت البركة أن تكون عملية المشاركة منذ البداية من أجل الوصول إلى تصميم يوافق عليه أهالي المنطقة والمجتمع:

- إجراء تحليل مناسب للحي وتحدياته وفرصه واحتياجاته فيما
يتعلق بالأماكن العامة؛

- المشاركة الكاملة في نهج تشاركي؛ للإستماع إلى الإحتياجات،
لأخذ بجميع الآراء من كافة الأعمار من أهالي مجتمعنا؛ من
المستخدمين ومن أصحاب المصلحة المعنيين مثل البلدية،
مكتبة السبيل والمتبرعين السابقين (بعضهم ساهم بالفعل في
إصلاح وتحديث الحديقة بعد الانفجار)؛

ونحن نعتقد أن هذه المشاركة أمر بالغ الأهمية لنجاح مشروع يتعلق
بمساحة عامة، وأن مثل هذه العملية من المرجح أن تؤدي إلى تحسين الحديقة بميزانية أصغر، والحفاظ على هويتها وحمايتها وضمان استدامتها.

وفي ملاحظة أخيرة، سمعنا أن إدارة الحديقة ستنتقل من البلدية إلى بيت البركة للسنوات الخمس المقبلة. في انتظار الحصول رسميا على أدوار ومسؤوليات كل من الجهات الفاعلة المحتملة (البلدية وبيت البركة)، نحن - مجتمع حديقة اليسوعية العامة - نود أن نضع أنفسنا كفاعل ثالث ونتحمل مسؤولياتنا الكاملة في إدارة مساحتنا.

The residents of Jesuit Garden Neighborhood and surroundings are extremely thankful for all the support and interest Beit El Baraka have been giving to our neighborhood after the 4th of August. Without your support, many families wouldn’t have managed to go back to their houses safely. We also greatly appreciated your intervention to the upgrade of the elevations and common infrastructure of some
buildings surrounding  the Garden and we now welcome your intention to work on the Public Garden itself.

We would like to approach you regarding the suggested design of the public garden which was presented on Wednesday 29 September 2021. We deeply regret that the community was not involved in the design process, as we believe the neighborhood could have greatly contributed to this project. The public hearing was open only to specific invitee and was solely a presentation of a conceptual design project already well advanced, and not an opportunity for proper community engagement.

We would like to request Beit El Baraka for a proper participatory process since the start in order to reach a community design:

- conduct a proper analysis of the neighborhood, its
challenges, opportunities and needs in relation to public spaces;

- engage fully in a participatory approach, to listen to the needs, to gather inputs from different group ages of our community, from users and from stakeholders involved like the municipality, Assabil-library and previous donors (some of them already contributed to the repair and upgrade of the garden after the blast);

We believe that this engagement is critical for the success of a project related to a public space, and that such a process would likely result in a lighter upgrade of the garden with a smaller budget,
preserving and protecting its identity and ensuring its sustainability.

On a last note, we heard that the management of the garden will shift from the Municipality to be under Beit El Baraka for the coming five years. While waiting to formally receive roles and responsibilities of both potential actors (Municipality and Beit el Baraka), we - community of Jesuit Public Garden - would like to position ourselves as a third actor and take our full responsibilities in managing our space.
