Tango Gameworks is a Japanese video game developer that was founded in 2010 by Shinji Mikami, and is responsible for creating a wonderful range of games, including The Evil Within 1 & 2, Ghostwire Tokyo, and their 2023 smash hit Hi-Fi RUSH.

It was revealed on May 7th, 2024 by Matt Booty that Microsoft Gaming would be closing down Tango Gameworks, despite stating that they need more games like Hi-Fi RUSH. It was also revealed that in recent meetings, Tango Gameworks was in the process of pitching a sequel game to Hi-Fi RUSH.

The closure of Tango Gameworks impacts a group of tight-knit developers, who now have to either relocate to new departments for work, or find new jobs altogether. It's heartbreaking for the teams who worked so hard on the games only to have all of their work haulted out of the blue. The closure is also upsetting for fans who were looking forward to future content.

The closure of Tango Gameworks without repercussions also gives Microsoft Gaming more fuel to close other small developers that work under them or ZeniMax. This will mean that more and more creative and beloved IPs will be tossed away in favor of profits. People who work on those other small teams would be forced to relocate or find new work. The cycle would only repeat.

Now is the time to act and show Microsoft that we aren't going to take this lightly! We will fight for Tango!
