Hound Tradition in Vermont. Hounding Protects Bears and People

The robust community of Vermont citizens who embrace hunting with hounds is a critical wildlife management tool and our best non-lethal deterrent for problem bears. There’s no way to measure how many wildlife conflicts are avoided simply because we have this tool available, and if our Hounding community is driven out of existence the net result will be more problem bears, and therefore more bears killed because of conflicts that could have been avoided.
An individual who has aligned themselves with anti-hunting groups started a petition just three days ago. Their mission is to stop hound hunting in Vermont. In two days they have 3500 signatures looking for 5000. The aligned anti-hunting groups will never stop until all forms of hunting are taken away. Right now it's just hound hunting.

We have already lost the right to hound hunting on two Federal lands in Vermont and now the attack is on the rest of Vermont. We need to get 10000 signatures showing there's more support than against these measures. We need to act before this important wildlife management tool is lost forever. I for one don't want to tell my grand kids stories of hound hunting. I want them to be in the woods listening to the wonderful sounds of dogs in the woods. Thank you
