The cliffs at Beachy Head form the eastern end of the South Downs national park. At 530 feet they are the highest chalk sea cliffs in the UK. The area is Beachy Head, known for its outstanding natural beauty, and with the red and white lighthouse, is one of the iconic images of England.

Sadly the cliffs are also well known for reasons other than their great beauty. Throughout the nations, Beachy Head is well known as a suicide spot. It is infact  ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR SUICIDE SPOTS IN THE WORLD.

Every week many people visit the cliffs whilst contemplating suicide and many jump. Beachy head chaplaincy team do a fantastic job, but myself and many others feel that anyone should be able to join the chaplaincy team. Right now, they only let christians join. Being a survivor of suicide attempts and depression myself for many years, and after one of my friends committing suicide at beachy head just two weeks ago, I feel that people of all walks of life should be able to join the chaplaincy team. There are people of different and all walks of life who could also help people in their darkest moments. I know people who want to join and help patrol the area and help the suicidal, but cant because they're not christians. If more people joined, and those of all walks of life, it might benefit the people who feel bad enough to go there to end their lives. We need more patrols, and we need more people to help out and STOP this being one of the world most popular suicide spots. Please sign and share, thanks very much!!
