BE UNCOMFORTABLE

The Issue

Been dealing with a lot of people in need of help recently. The system in place, specifically social workers, police, advocacy groups, and the like, they are either seemingly burnt out, underpaid, misinformed, hands are tied by red tape or just don't give a shit at all. I literally told a cop, a police officer yesterday after he tried to brush off my police report I was filing as not a solid recourse or a law being broken, he tried to say two separate documents that were fraudulent and deceptive were typographical errors. I lost my nerves but calmly I told him, "I don't like people like you. Cops and the system are the way it is because of people like you not giving a shit. You are here to serve and protect and you're not doing that. For the people, you are not for us you are against us and when I've asked for help from an officer their first response has been to ask for my name and social to check for warrants. No solution or care given."

This is not always the case. I've had police officers also save my life. They know the struggle also and act on their experiences and turmoil and try and be the change they want to see. There are definitely good people out there it's just that there aren't enough of them.

Many mothers and fathers I know. Woman and men with families, looking for help are misguided or not shown any loving grace or help at all. Leaving their families in turmoil and not seeing any reprieve. I fucking can't stand the system and normally I try and be the one holding the mirror to society but this is enraging me. I can't just sit back and watch shit go down like this. Call them out on their failings, hold them accountable, be the change you want to see.

My mother, she was strong as hell. Spoke to her the other day regarding advice on issues involving help available for families in need. She said that raising my brothers and I she has never sought help and just pushed through the best she could. She worked full time a blue collar job and raised us and killed it! Not everyone can do that, raise three boys like she did. I love her for that! She pulled it off but some people and families need help and when asking for it they are just a name on a file put in a filing cabinet. That's all they are.

I spoke with an attorney today and he stated after not being able to help with legal recourse. At the end of the call I asked him if I was crazy in saying the system in place is cracked and that crack is spreading. I states my feelings about it are that someone can go to all the advocacy groups they want but I feel unless you hit them where it hurts, in their deep pockets, that will be the only way to make a change. Yelling loudly like this hardly even changes a person's train of thought.

The attorney left me with this, "The system sir, the system is entirely fucked. I have represented thousands of clients with the same issues but you have a clarity on how the failures our being held. They aren't being held at all they are being tossed aside and left to rot. Out of sight out of mind. Do your best sir to be heard and fight when necessary."

Cause if we do nothing, nothing will change!

This will not reach far enough to make a change

Some people will read what I've written and think I'm just angry. Yes, I am angry but what victim isn't!? Just because it doesn't directly affect you doesn't mean to not take a stance. I hope some of you are feeling uncomfortable reading this. That's what I hope to do. Places of privilege are a good thing to be aware of but people that are privileged should use that privilege to help those without it.

That is all...

At least I said it

What are you gonna do now?
