To keep Adobe Creative Cloud Suite access for our university course

The Issue

Dear Leeds Beckett University Administration,

As students pursuing creative fields, we believe that access to Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (home licensing specifically) is essential for our academic and professional success. We urge you to provide us with this software as part of our university course, as you did this year.

Adobe Creative Suite includes a range of powerful tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere Pro. These programs are widely used in the industry and are necessary for creating high-quality designs, graphics, videos, and animations. The software is also heavily used throughout the course to complete work set by our academics and to progress with our degrees, making it vital for all students.

According to a survey conducted by Adobe in 2019, 90% of creative professionals use their products. This demonstrates the significance of these tools in the industry and highlights their importance for students who aspire to work in creative fields.

Furthermore, providing access to Adobe Creative Cloud Suite at home will enhance our learning experience by allowing us to experiment with different techniques and develop new skills at any time. It will also enable us to produce professional-level work that meets industry standards.

We understand that providing this software may incur additional costs; however, we believe that our annual university tuition fee (£9250) should cover access to this important creative tool. Removing access to the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite will disproportionately affect those on lower incomes who can't afford the £16.24 per month (£194.88 for the first year) and will prevent ALL students from being able to produce work from anywhere, at any time of the day. Moreover, many universities already provide their students with access to Adobe Creative Cloud Suite as part of their course curriculum, which shows how important it is.

Therefore, we respectfully request that you consider providing us with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (home licensing specifically) as part of our university course. We believe this will benefit not only ourselves but also the university's reputation as an institution committed to producing skilled professionals who can contribute positively to society.

Thank you for your attention on this matter.

Sincerely,

Leeds Beckett Students
