Save the Rosebery Rd Oasis for the Community

The Issue

Protect the public garden from the bulldozer!

This pocket green space is an oasis for our local residents and a focal point for community hope. The above photo shows the result of seven years of effort and work to create this garden, by the Pokesdown Community Forum, aided by the grateful local residents.

It deserves more than to be discarded out of hand and destroyed by development.

Our pocket green space is a single point on a historic shopping street of small traders that approximately ten years ago was known as the ‘golden mile’ linking Pokesdown Station with the Boscombe Precinct. A street of unique heritage with specialists interest, boutiques and independent shops, is now becoming blighted by:

  • Permitted developments
  • Asset banking
  • Absentee landlords
  • Chronic neglect

This petition is not only to raise awareness of the risk to the loss of the biodiversity of the garden, enjoyed by pollinators and wildlife. Including signings of a family of hedgehogs, which we have alerted to the Dorset Wildlife Trust. But also, flat dwelling residents without access to gardens, who can freely use this community asset.

Sign our petition to protect Pokesdown's bees, hedgehogs and bio-diversity. Sign if you want to defend our garden and community space. Sign to call upon the BCP Council to legally recognize this as an Asset of Community Value (ACV).
