Barrack Road urgently needs a safe cycle lane rather than the death traps currently painted on the road.

Barrack Road sees hundreds of children cycle to school each day along one of the busiest roads in Christchurch without any safe cycle lanes.  This is something that has needed to be addressed for years if not decades and the council has, at long last, put forward a proposal which will substantially reduce the possibility of serious injury or death to cyclists.

BUT! It is being blocked by two Councillors that purport to represent the feelings of constituents and we want to show them they are wrong!

Safe cycle lanes on Barrack Road are a win/win for everyone.

• Shops will benefit from increased trade from those who can now cycle into town rather than not bother because of difficult parking.
• Residents of Barrack Road will benefit because of less noise and pollution.
• Residents of Christchurch will benefit because safe cycle routes will encourage more activity and a healthier lifestyle.
• Drivers will benefit because there will be less cars on the road and therefore less congestion.
• The environment will benefit.

PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION to support the addition of a safe cycle lane for the hundreds of school children and many more hundreds of people that, rather than risk their lives on Barrack Road, will be able to ditch their cars for short journeys into town by getting on their bikes!
