A Call To Action!
Hello Petitioners,
“The Fix For Route 6”
Since December 21, 2021 the “Patrons of Route 6” have been Campaigning on behalf of you the 2256 Petitioners for Improved Ferry Service and Terminals on Route 6 Vesuvius Bay – Crofton.
In October of 2022 BC Ferries committed to a New 2 Vessel Island Class Service, along with completely new Terminals at Vesuvius Bay and Crofton. The Terminal Design for Vesuvius Bay was completed in 2019, 5 years ago. The preferred design for the Crofton Terminal referred to as Plan B was nearing completion. Funding for these improvements was approved by the BC Ferries Commissioner in both Performance Terms 5 & 6 which end in April of 2028, after an 8 year period.
As of April 2024 BC Ferries stated that they are reallocating the Funding and the New Terminals are now cancelled. In the case of Crofton, the New Trestle and Berth will be located exactly where the current facility is. BC Ferries hasn’t answered the question - will the Crofton Terminal be closed to vehicle traffic for months on end, while construction takes place in same location as oppose to the Plan B site?
With less than 90 days before the Provincial Fall Election, the message is clear to Premier Eby, after 50 years of little or no improvements to Route 6, please reinstate the funding for the Terminals at both Vesuvius Bay and Crofton – Plan B.
Let’s keep the email short and to the point but feel free to add your own comments. Please cut and paste the following to your email client:

Subject Line: Please Restore The Funding for the New BC Ferries Terminals on Route 6.
Dear Premier Eby,
Both Vesuvius Bay and Crofton have never had Terminal Facilities to accommodate Walk On Passengers and provide indoor washroom facilities. Over the last 50 years traffic has increased dramatically, with little improvements for foot traffic and the overall infrastructure which is now well beyond its service life.
Please direct BC Ferries to reinstate the funding granted in Performance Terms 5 & 6 by the BC Ferries Commissioner - Eva Hage. This will facilitate the building of the Vesuvius Bay Terminal designed in 2019 and the New Design for the Crofton Terminal called Plan B for completion in the Spring of 2027.
A sincere thank you on behalf of the 2256 Petitioners on - “The Fix for Route 6”.
