Hi Everyone,

We delayed sending out the Petitions yesterday and will wait until Friday which is the 22nd and represents  4 weeks since we started.

There's time to round it off at 2000 as we make the final push.

The Local Trust Council met today and following was presented on your behalf.

Good Morning Chair and Trustees,

I'm here today representing the 1900 Petitioners who feel a 2 Ferry Service on Route 6 this Spring is the way forward to prevent another Summer of ferry traffic chaos.

The Legal Question for the SSI Islands Trust who is in charge of the OCP - Does BCF have a Legal Right to prevent two way traffic at the Vesuvius Bay and Fulford Harbour Terminals? This has been allowed for decades but the question, is it legal?

A Two Ferry Service on Route 6 running on the hour during peak travel demand 0700 - 1900 takes the vehicles off our roadways and onto the ferries in a timely manner. Instead of making parking lots at Crofton, Vesuvius Bay and Fulford Terminals, making two way traffic impossible.

BCF has neglected to address the need for larger parking holding areas to prevent our current traffic gridlock at all 3 Terminals. With the over capacity that the 2 Ferry Service provides on Route 6 it allows those who don’t need to travel by Fulford Harbour to
migrate their travel plans to Vesuvius.  We envision Patrons can show up 20 to 30 min before departure, board without sailing waits and without creating traffic gridlock. The 2 Ferry service allows for further capacity in the future by running a service every 40 minutes if deemed necessary.

The improved capacity of the MV Quinsam (63 vehicles) coming down from Route 19 from serving Gabriola Island since 1982 provides welcomed relief with its improved carrying capacity. The problem it doesn’t cure the size of the parking holding areas at Crofton and Vesuvius Bay Terminal Ares. Adding the Bowen Queen to Route 4 in June, July and August to enhance service from Fulford Harbour would be a very attractive option as well.

The 2 Ferry Service mitigates traffic gridlock and sailing waits and provides proper ferry service improvement to all 3 Terminals.

With both the MV Quinitsa and Quinsam currently available for this Spring, this is a golden opportunity to mitigate traffic gridlock and provide instant relief at all 3 Terminal by convincing BCF its the responsible way forward for our collective Communities.

Thank you for your time, Patrons of Route 6.
